Studio Policy for Rose Singing Academy
MY RESPONSIBILITIES
I will teach students the language of music in a positive and inspiring virtual or in person singing lesson environment. My goal as a teacher is to help students develop advanced vocal control through confidence building, interactive techniques and cross genre training to inspire and encourage them toward their creative and professional aspirations. I will tailor the curriculum to match each student's specific learning needs.
STUDENT & FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Students agree to arrive at each virtual or in person lesson punctually, well-prepared, and having warmed up beforehand. A digital keyboard will be provided during the lessons to guide the student but will not be used for full accompaniment while the student is singing. To make good progress, daily quality practice is necessary. Please ask questions about home assignments so that the student and/or parents can completely understand the assignments and goals.
Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.
All students are encouraged to participate in virtual and in person studio recitals and to audition for local choirs and competitions. If an opportunity arises, please bring information to the next lesson so that I can help you/your child prepare.
Students must have a dedicated space and a piano or other instrument to practice with at home to ensure accurate learning of the assigned songs. If you have questions or would like input on the purchase of an instrument to assist with practice please let me know. I am happy to set appointments to meet the student and/or their family to make specific recommendations.
TUITION
A la carte lesson subscriptions include 4 lessons per month. Additional lessons can be added upon request. Lesson credits do not roll over to the next month. The monthly subscription will not be reduced for any reason.
All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. After the first payment, invoicing and payment will run automatically on the 1st each month from the method on file. All automatic payments will be run through Stripe.
Late payments are subject to a £20 late fee. Recurring late payments may result in termination of the student’s enrollment.
Two weeks written notice via email is required to end the lesson subscription. If the appropriate notice is not provided, the subscription will run for one additional month prior to cancellation.
SCHEDULING
Lessons must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance. In order to cancel a lesson, notice must be given at least 24 hours in advance. If notice is not given at least 24 hours prior to the lesson time, the lesson can not be rescheduled.
In the case that a lesson is canceled by the teacher, notice will be given as far in advance as possible and additional lesson times will be provided for a rescheduled lesson.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours notice will not be provided a make up lesson. Lessons canceled with 24 hours notice will be credited a make up lesson for that month.
Each month one day will be offered for make up lessons. This date will be announced at the start of each month via email. If the student is unable to attend a lesson on this designated day the credit may be forfeited.
Make up lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s tuition.
Lessons canceled by me will be given as much notice as possible and will be rescheduled within 15 days.
Monthly invoices are based on the number of lessons the studio schedules that month and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month.
MUSIC & MATERIALS
Each student is responsible for purchasing the required songs and materials for lessons. If students would like to use backing tracks for songs at an additional fee of £2 per track, these can be purchased online and I can suggest platforms should this be needed. However, if the student prefers to use sheet music with piano support only, this can be accommodated. Songs will be chosen by both me and the student and the student will be expected to provide me with the music at least 72 hours before the lesson. Advanced notice will be provided whenever possible.
COMMITMENT
When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire term. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by-base basis each month before tuition is due.
If the student decides to pause lessons during the course of a semester, tuition for the remainder of the semester still applies. Alterations to this policy are on a case-by-case basis.
Fall Term - September through December (12 weeks) 23rd sept. - 26th dec.
Spring Term - January through april (16 weeks) 6th jan - 28th april
Summer Term - may through August (16 weeks) 5th may - 25th august
Please note that a student's spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.
COMMUNICATION PREFERENCES
Please allow 24 hours for response to all communications during the week. Communication outside of the studio operating hours may have a longer response time and all weekend communication will be answered the following Monday. Email is my preferred method of communication as text may not be seen while teaching.
PHOTO AND VIDEO RELEASE FORM.
From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want you/your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on my website or around the studio. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are identified only by first name.
By enrolling and paying tuition for me or my child in Rose Singing Academy, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the 2024/2025 school year.
